Greetings All:

The Fayette Board of Selectmen will convene a special meeting TOMORROW NIGHT Thursday March 18, 2010 7:30 p.m. at the Fayette TOWN OFFICE.

The meeting is purposed for the approval of an order to hold a referendum regarding Fayette's school consolidation intentions with the Winthrop School Department and approving related public hearing dates and events.  The duration of the meeting should be approximately 15 minutes.    This special meeting is required whereas the state school consolidation law timeline requires that this action be taken no later 45 days prior to any referendum date.  The latest date by which a referendum may be held is May 4th, 2010.  The next regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen is March 22, 2010 which is less than the 45 day requirement and would negate the Town's effort to comply with the current school consolidation law. Hence the need for a special meeting.
